BFF Omaha Summer Internships — 2026
BFF is now accepting applications for 2026 Summer Internships!
The BFF Omaha Summer Internship Program is a chance to jump into the real, behind-the-scenes work of running a creative nonprofit. This isn’t a coffee-fetching internship. Interns work directly with staff, artists, and community members to help make exhibitions, events, markets, workshops, and neighborhood projects actually happen.
The work is hands-on, collaborative, sometimes chaotic (in a fun way), and deeply rooted in Benson’s DIY creative community.

Intern Focus Areas
Each intern is assigned a primary focus area, but everyone helps out across programs. That’s just how BFF works. Expect a mix of creative tasks, administrative work, physical labor, and neighborhood-based outreach.
This work can include lifting, installing artwork, hauling tables, postering in the heat, talking with the public, gathering feedback, and responding to curveballs as they come up. We’re looking for people who show up, stay organized, and enjoy being part of an active creative community.
1. Artist Market Intern
Support BFF’s monthly artist markets through vendor communication, outreach, surveys, and day-of logistics. Expect long days, heavy lifting, and lots of interaction with artists and the public.
2. Gallery Intern
Assist with exhibition prep and installs, gallery maintenance, visitor engagement, and opening events. Tasks include painting, patching, hanging artwork, gallery hours, and supporting curatorial projects. Flexible availability is important.
3. Education Intern
Help plan and facilitate hands-on workshops for kids, teens, and adults. Responsibilities include prep, facilitation support, brainstorming new class ideas, and collecting participant feedback. Must be comfortable working with all ages and pass a background check.
4. Administrative Intern
Support behind-the-scenes operations such as file organization, data tracking, spreadsheets, grant assistance, and event logistics. Ideal for someone who enjoys systems, structure, and problem-solving.
5. Communications Intern
Help document and share what’s happening in the neighborhood. Tasks include photo and video capture, drafting posts, gathering content at events, collecting quotes or surveys, and supporting simple campaigns. Curiosity and comfort approaching people are key.
6. Stage & Sound Intern
Support live performances during First Fridays, concerts, and seasonal events. Responsibilities may include stage setup, sound checks, equipment handling, and performer coordination. Prior sound experience is helpful but not required — willingness to learn and troubleshoot is essential.
